What inspired you to write NOURISH: The Fit Woman’s Cookbook?
The ‘Nourish’ component of my Active Living philosophy is the inspiration and motivation behind ‘NOURISH: The Fit Woman’s Cookbook.’ We’ve been featuring healthy recipes on Lorna Jane’s movenourishbelieve blog for some time now and our readers simply cannot get enough!
To satisfy these readers and of course satisfy my own personal love of food, I took it one step further in typical Lorna Jane style and compiled my own cookbook. The book includes not only my favourite recipes, but my personal food and life philosophies, hints and tips for Active Living and even a few meal plans to get readers started on their journey to good health.

Could you define: MOVE, NOURISH, BELIEVE?
Move Nourish Believe is my driving force – and reason to exist. It involves motivating you to MOVE your body every day, NOURISH from the inside-out with nutritious food and BELIEVE anything is possible if you’re willing to work for it. By following this daily practice you are becoming part of the Active Living sisterhood. Move Nourish Believe are the three pillars that make up my Active Living philosophy and are what I live my life by every single day.
Who do you hope to help the most with the release of your book?
Nourish is for all those women who want to get off the diet treadmill, but still want to look and feel great. I want women all over the world to understand that they shouldn’t feel guilty or deprived when it comes to what they eat and should instead enjoy food that is delicious and good for them at the same time.
There are some really unusual (yet amazing-sounding) recipes such as fruit chips and energy tonics in Nourish! How do you come up with these innovative ideas, is there a process, or have these recipes/tips evolved naturally for you over the years?
The recipes in ‘Nourish’ are actually those I have collected over time and have been eating myself (and making for family and friends) for as long as I can remember. When it came time to compile Nourish, it was actually a struggle to decide which recipes not to include, as I just had SO many.
Favourite three recipes from NOURISH?
Nourish is filled with all my favourite recipes, but if I had to choose, my favourites right now are:
Breakfast: Granola with cinnamon pears and coconut yoghurt
Lunch: Roast beetroot and lentil salad
Dinner: Chilli and garlic prawns with quinoa and cauliflower pilaff
What advice do you give to anyone who struggles to stay “on track” with their food, who slips up and feels bad about it?
The best strategy that enables women to look and feel their best is to banish processed and refined foods from their diets and eat predominantly a real food diet. By that, I mean loads of fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains, the right kinds of proteins and fats and plenty of water. I have a busy schedule (like most people) so despite all good intentions, plans can change and if that balance is thrown off, I don’t beat myself up. I just make a promise to get back up tomorrow and do it all again, with a little more enthusiasm and determination than before.
