Advanced Style: 5 Ways Your Gran Can Be Your Guru

5. “Always be turned out, you never know who you’re going to meet”

Be like those women in the olden day movies – hair always primped and curled, a marvellous flick of liner, a slither of lip and a fetching bow, somewhere on your person. First impressions count, and grandma values good posture, manicures, a signature fragrance and heels that you can walk in.

While I love the off-duty model style as much as any proud fashion addict, there’s something grand about taking that extra 20 minutes to perfect the blow-dry,  buff the shoes and pick the lint off my (Wang) jumper.  And it doesn’t matter how much or how little money you have; keeping your house clean and appearance clean just shows you respect yourself.

At the end of the day, adversity taught our grandmothers to find joy in simple pleasures, practice patience and be kind to everyone they meet. In today’s sometimes crazy and testing time, it’s wisdom well-told.
